Businessmen of the Industrial Revolution

John D. Rockelfeller

John D. Rockefeller became proof that during the Industrial Revolution, one could obtain power and wealth without being born into it. Realizing that oil was the business to be in at the time, Rockefeller used it to start his path to wealth.

Andrew Carnegie

Andrew Carnegie worked many jobs as a young adult that led him to be successful during the Industrial Revolution. He worked with both railroads and oil wells, but being very frugal, he finally earned enough to start his own business. In 1873, Carnegie began the Keystone Iron Works, which succeeded in making him one of the wealthiest men of his time.
